Pensacola Care, Inc., a Florida not-for-profit corporation was incorporated on October 27, 1978. The purpose of the corporation was to provide services and to maintain a congregrate living facility providing for all the needs of its residents who were convalescing from the effects of illness and injury, who are confined by reason of the infirmities of age, but not limited to these areas.
After a year of operation, HRS contacted Pensacola Care, Inc. about the possibility of becoming a provider in the ICF/MR field. The Board accepted, and under the advice of legal counsel contracted with a bond underwriter, a CPA firm, and a management company to assist in meeting the needs of the Board and facilities as needs arose. At this time the Board was expanded from three to five members.
HRS had established a need for facilities in five Florida cities: Pensacola, Ft. Walton Beach, Panama City, Tallahassee, and Tampa. Over the course of time Pensacola Care, Inc. has operated a retirement home and a group home which have subsequently been discontinued.
