The Tallahassee Developmental Center (TDC) is an Intermediate Care Facility for individuals with developmental disabilities located in Tallahassee, Florida. TDC, licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families, provides supports and services for sixty-three individuals. TDC is owned by Pensacola Care, Incorporated, a not-for-profit corporation.
TDC is strategically located across the street from Tallahassee Community College and Lively Technical Center. It is in close proximity to Florida State University and Florida A&M University.
Family style, home like accomodations are provided for individuals who live in the center's four homes. Each home has semi-private bedrooms, living and dining room and kitchen. The campus provides a variety of recreational activities for those who live here.
Utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, TDC provides a full range of supports designed to maximize each persons abilities and independence. Most individuals attend off campus day programs to foster community integration. Through field trips, individuals are integrated into the Tallahassee community to promote awareness of disabilities and provide opportunities for social involvement with non-disabled persons.
TDC also had an active volunteer program. Utilizing resources of the area colleges and universities, as well as members of the general community TDC strives to engage persons without disabilities with the people who live at TDC. This fosters integration and helps residents to experience different aspects of community life.
